Knowledge Exchange Forum for Stakeholders on the Brain Basis of Language in Early Childhood

The event took place on Monday, October 19th 2015 at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and was hosted by Dr. Catherine Lebel and Dr. Deborah Dewey. This forum facilitated communication between policymakers, health practitioners, early childhood educators, community members, parents/caregivers of preschool children, and researchers, as they reflected on how new information on healthy brain development in preschool-age children, specifically as relates to language and early reading skills, can guide medical and educational practices in Canada and address gaps in the existing knowledge.

Postdoctoral Scholar Position in Pediatric Neuroimaging

The Department of Radiology at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a postdoctoral scholar to work with Dr. Catherine Lebel in the area of pediatric neuroimaging. Applicants should be interested in the neuroimaging investigations of brain development and brain abnormalities in developmental disorders.

Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, medical sciences, or other relevant discipline, and experience with MR image processing and analysis. Applicants should submit a letter of interest, CV, graduate transcript, and 3 recommendation letters to clebel@ucalgary.ca.
